New ad launched by BC-STV campaign
Radio commercial highlights grassroots nature of electoral reform campaign

Vancouver, B.C. - The BC-STV campaign to bring fairness and accountability to our voting system unveiled a radio ad to raise awareness of the upcoming referendum on electoral reform with British Columbian voters.

The BC-STV electoral system is supported by thousands of British Columbians from all over the province and all walks of life. They know that we need to fix our electoral system, which favours politicians and their backroom organizers rather than average citizens. Under BC-STV, the ballot is easy to use, the results are fairer and communities get better representation.

On May 12, voters will have a chance to make history by voting for a new electoral system that was recommended overwhelmingly by the Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform, a group of 160 randomly selected British Columbians who examined every electoral system in the world and recommended one they felt would be best for BC. In the last referendum, BC-STV received more votes than any political party, nearly 58 per cent. However, the referendum requires 60 per cent approval to be adopted by the government.

News media are welcome to use the new radio ad which is available at:
